Types of Heated Bathroom Floors

There are two main types of heated floors in your bathroom:

  1. Electric Radiant Flooring
  2. Hydronic Radiant Flooring

The electric system can be quite costly but it is great for a bathroom area. It consists of heated mats that are placed in the flooring system. The hydronic systems consist of tubing system that is buried under the flooring.

When it comes to evenly heating an area, the radiant heating in your floor makes it easy to get a solid, smooth heating in the area. The entire surface heats up slowly and consistently where a furnace is blowing air in certain areas. This even heat also makes it easy to be more energy efficient and reduce your power bill at the same time.

What About Price?

When it comes to installing the heated bathroom floors, you should be aware that it can cost quite a bit of money to do the installation. The electric system is much more expensive than the hydronic but both systems may cost more than a typical heating system replacement.

There is also a potential that your floors can be damaged when you use this heating system. You could have a pipe burst under the flooring and cause water damage. If the product is not installed correctly you run the risk of having a fire in the flooring unit as well.
